I am currently working on the video for the official Awal’s COTF song “This is who I am” and on Jan 14, it was the turn for Sarkodie & Mohammed who are featured on the track. On my trip to Ghana, I’ve had the privilege to meet a lot of people and Sarkodie, Possigee and Mohammed were those of a cool character. The day began with Sarkodie at the community he grew up in, Tema. The essence of capturing the visual representation of the message in the song is very important, so we went to film at where it all began for these men. Tema is about 35mins drive away from Accra and it currently boast of most of the big Ghanaian hiphop stars and producers. Possigee and Sarkodie grew up there too. As the day wound down, we set off to Ashaiman a suburb of Tema for Mohammed’s scene, and there I witnessed such a beautiful life. Children there are all happy and glad to meet people although they are going through some economical challenges. They are what I call survivors. Mohammed is such a good role model from his community as you can see kids rushed in their numbers to come on set and support their local superstar. Possigee is such a kind man and on our way to Ashaiman, he bought enough gifts for the kids on set. I had a lot of experience visiting Ashaiman which is predominantly made of low income families. People call it the real slums. I’m from Canada and I see what people consider to be “the hood” and I bet you if you travel out to other parts of the world, “hoods” in America and Canada cannot be compared to the ones of Ghana. Why? At least in America you can walk to a government agency and ask for some assistant and even meals at times, but over in Ashaiman, you are on your own. Director O.J. Teams up with Awal’s COTF (Ghana)

As a native of Ghana, film maker and philantrophist, Director O.J. has teamed up with one of Ghana’s biggest music producer Awal Alhassan popularly known as Possi Gee to embark on the COTF (Children Of The Future) foundation movement. Awal’s Children of the Future Foundation (COTF), is a newly created not-for-profit organization focused on helping street children, orphans, and the needy in Ghana.
The COTF Foundation is dedicated to raising money and making grants to charitable organizations which focus on improving and elevating the general welfare and well-being of the less fortunate, specifically children in unfortunate circumstances. Awal currently produced the song This is who I am with 8 strong artists (ambassadors) from Ghana and Director O.J. is currently geared up shooting the video for the song. Let’s support COTF by buying the song off iTunes and donate to support this good cause.
